Contribution to AIRC
We are truly blessed to be in good health and want to help those that may be less fortunate during this special time of year.  Each year, 300,000 cases of cancer are diagnosed worldwide in children and teens under the age of 19.
This year, RuB will focus our philanthropic support on pediatric cancer research with the hopes that our contribution will help with finding a cure within our generation.
For many years the Italian Association for Cancer Research has been a leader in searching cures for Pediatric Cancer and with our support, we can help researchers accelerate the discovery of new treatments and give precious time to so many children depending on treatment while finding a cure.
Today our support will have even more impact as recent achievements are translating into new treatments that will change the future of so many children.

Contribution to COSP Mazzano
We continue with our annual tradition of making Christmas time a bit more merrier and healthier.  This year with great pleasure we have chosen to support Cosp Mazzano, the public rescue operative center of our municipality Molinetto of Mazzano , an association O.N.L.U.S. of volunteers who provide emergency service and first aid.
Our contribution this year will be the Hygienio Sanitizer, a device that allows 360° sanitation and combines the use of warm steam and disinfectant to create a protective antibacterial film on surfaces of equipment that need sanitizing.
Our contribution will benefit the “Zero Microbial Load” program that allows volunteers to operate in an disinfected environment while allowing the patient a more protective service.

GHOSTBUSTERS MAKES ITS LONG

you can see in the latest Ghostbusters movie.

 

Ghostbusters 2016 makes its long-awaited return, thirty years after the beloved original movie and RuB has earned the right to be part of this mega-event with our valve installed on the famous Proton Pack!
The RuB T242D00 Brass ball valve is a prominent feature fitted on the Ghostbusters Proton Pack in the Ghostbusters 2016 movie.

RuB Lean Team #1 is developing an educational path for both individual and group training based on the concept that working in an efficient and cohesive way is necessary to reach common goals and makes each individual feel part of a bigger plan.
Group training courses highlight the values of each department with emphasis on ability to establish improved relationships and collaboration with colleagues and supervisors as a result of positive and efficient behavior.  Individual training is customized to reflect typical aspects of the relevant job. Both group and individual training apply to existing and new employees.
Lean training activities have resulted in increased creativity and enterprising spirit to find improved cooperative solutions which give employees a greater awareness about their role in the company.

The summer of 2016 has been a very important and exciting time for RuB team growth!  During this time we have seen the hiring of three key individuals with demonstrated experience to support strategic roles within our company. 
In May, Paolo Nicolini joined the RuB team and will assume the newly established position of Supply Chain Manager.  Paolo received a degree in Industrial Engineering and completed postgraduate work in the Supply Chain area and has 10 yrs experience in a multinational corporation for production and components’ distribution for hydrothermal systems.  In his previous position, he developed and managed the reorganization plans of logistical flows in different areas of the company.  In his new SCM position, he will maximize efficiencies of logistical internal and external flows and in production planning according to Lean Production principles.
In June, Ludovico Beccaria joined the RuB team as Plant Manager. Ludovico received a degree in Automotive Engineering with a Master’s in Lean Production.  Ludovico has many years of experience in branch Operations within the automotive sector with international focus.
Ludovico’s experience and organizational abilities will be the perfect fit to help drive new product implementation and productivity through collaborative resources and the reorganization of production.  Ludovico will manage the purchase of new state of the art machines and equipment that will help RuB achieve lean targets and better serve our customer’s needs.
And in July, Ivan Falardi joined the team in the newly created position of Technical Director.  Ivan is an Engineer with significant experience starting with a company that performed installations for industrial automation and then with a global leader in illumination engineering where he managed the process of planning and product industrialization. Ivan's role will be critical for the planning process reorganization utilizing his Project Management skills.  
Paolo, Ludovico and Ivan represent an important step forward for RuB, where experience and tradition combined with strategic direction can forge new organizational models of managerial style.

WATER REGULATIONS ADVISORY SCHEME!

New Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS - UK)  Approval # 1609315 has been awarded to RuB valves s90, s84w and s64 valves and they will have the WRAS conformance mark required for plumbing and potable drinkable water applications.

This new certificate assures conformance to WRAS regulations on our manually operated valves – s90 and s84w, used in drinking water installations and also includes our automated s64 valve that features an ISO 5211 flange for direct mount for both pneumatic and electric actuators.

Valve Automation is becoming more prevalent in water distribution for both residential and commercial plumbing systems and RuB is ready for the ever changing needs of the market with most responsive and comprehensive solutions!

s.150 – EFFECTIVE AIR VENT FOR LONG LASTING INSTALLATIONS

Air trapped in a pipeline can seriously affect system operation and efficiency; when air pockets sit in the pipes, a restriction of the flow occurs.  Movement of these air pockets can cause sudden changes in flow speed and when passing through a restriction in the pipeline, such as a control valve, usually result in surges or water hammer.  Exposure to air also accelerates the corrosion of the pipe material.  All these conditions can result in premature failure of the installation.

The s.150 air vent valve is the perfect solution when air exhaust is required. With 10 bar pressure, +110°C working temperature, the s150 effectively removes air from pipelines and can be used in waterlines, water transport lines, water storage tanks, air conditioning systems, etc...

COMPRESSION ENDS VALVES

Compression ends are highly reliable, quick to install and a much easier alternative than soldering.
Although the primary advantage of compression ends may seem to be in their ease of assembly – just slide the pipe into the valve end and tighten the nut - their real advantage is in their ease of disassembly, which facilitates ease of maintenance, cleaning and replacement.
Compression ends allow flexibility and can also be used on plastic pipe by utilizing plastic (non-metal) compression rings which are widely available at most hardware stores.
The RuB s28 and s30 valves with compression ends have many advantages.  Specifically designed with the versatile compression end configuration, s28 and s30 also offer the significant features of having their body, ball and stem, all made of DZR brass alloy in compliance with governmental regulations for valves handling drinking water.  Utilizing new technology, these valves feature the reliability and competitiveness of brass while being comparable to bronze in corrosion resistance.

NICKEL FREE

Worldwide health regulations are becoming more and more stringent regarding the presence of nickel in products in contact with drinking water. 

RuB has been responsive to these regulations and offers the following solutions to meet this growing need:

- Nickel plating is applied only on the outside of the valve so that it does not come in contact with water running    through the valve; yet is offers a nice metallic surface outlook.

- Nickel will be completely removed from ball plating in the dedicated “Potable Water” valve line, thanks to the new patented COPPER PLATING PROCESS that will also feature the advantages of the anti-bacterial properties of copper.

- Valve balls are featured with a rinse hole that prevents stagnation of water and helps preventing Legionella.

Scientific studies suggest that the use of copper in water installations is the most effective method for preventing Legionella bacteria and results in greater protection than installations made with steel or PEX materials.

s.468 for Activalve®

The newest product in RuB family is Activalve ®, which we started promoting recently and can be seen on the RuB website www.rubvalves.com 

Activalve ® has several unique features including the s.468 ball valve that is supplied as part of Activalve ® package.  

1- Low lead content: the brass alloy used to manufacture s.468 ball valves meets the lead free content requirements of USA regulations (Safe Drinking Water Act) in drinking water.

2- DZR: DeZincification-Resistant properties are enhanced by the combination with Low Lead and use components accepted in all EU countries where HCACL – UBA list - is in place.

3- Anti-freezing: s.468 valve is specially engineered to protect against freezing fluid inside the valve and is perfectly suited for the Activalve ® application.

4- Ease of installation: the valve features compression ends, in compliance with EN 1254-2, for quick and easy installation.

All details from material to configuration are carefully designed and engineered to provide you with the highest level of performance!

UBA LIST

The European four Member States (Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Holland) formalized an initiative in 2011 aimed at the convergence of the legislations of their own countries into one to ensure the hygienic safety of drinking water.

In addition, Portugal is now a Candidate Member, since planning to introduce a similar scheme following the 4MS Common approach. 

The 4MS intends to adopt common, or directly comparable, practices for:

- The acceptance of the constituents used in materials in contact with drinking water

- The testing of materials

- The use of common test methods and setting acceptance levels

- The specification of tests to be applied to products

- Review of factory production control and setting audit testing requirements

- Assessment of the capabilities of certification and testing bodies

A Joint Management Committee has been created to coordinate the activities of the representatives of the adhering countries in support of the initiative.

Tasks have been assigned to each state so that each is working on a specific type of materials: 

• Germany responsible for metallic materials. 

• Holland responsible for organic materials. 

• France responsible for cement materials.

• UK responsible for standards regarding microbiological and material growth and non-metallic materials. 

Metallic Materials - What’s UBA? What’s UBA list?

The Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt, UBA) is Germany’s central environmental authority. Established in 1974,  the Federal Environment Agency is a partner and point of contact in Germany for a number of international institutions, for instance the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Environment Agency . 

Pursuant to the amended German Drinking Water Ordinance, since December 2012 UBA has been tasked with specifying mandatory evaluation criteria for materials and substances that come into contact with drinking water. The guidelines and recommendations issued previously by UBA were less legally binding. The new guidelines and recommendations will be implemented in the mandatory evaluation criteria in the coming years. 

Finally all the work of 4MS common approach was included in the last Revision (4th revision dated Jan. 20TH, 2015) of the document ‘ACCEPTANCE OF METALLIC MATERIAL USED FOR PRODUCTS IN CONTACT WITH DRINKING WATER, see: https://www.umweltbundesamt.de/en/topics/water/drinking-water/distributing-drinking-water/approval-harmonization-4ms-initiative. 

The document is divided into: 

Part A – with procedure for acceptance: The 4 MS have adopted Part A of this document as a common basis for implementing the concept of accepting metallic materials in their national regulations. This document is subject to revisions agreed by the 4MS.

Part B – 4MS   with Common Composition Lists  (https://www.umweltbundesamt.de/sites/default/files/medien/374/dokumente/150120_4ms_scheme_for_metallic_materials_part_b.pdf): this document includes a list of metallic material accepted in all of the 4MS following the procedure described in part A.

Which are the products affected by the UBA list:

Any product in contact with drinking water (wetted surface) including all products and components used in the water facilities for reservoir, treatment and distribution of the potable waters for human consumption.

Additional products include sanitary faucet products, valves, joints, tubes, pumps, water meters, filters, electrical and gas water heaters, solar boilers, heat pumps for the production of hot sanitary water, equipment for water treatment, etc.

Where does UBA list apply:

The adhering countries of the 4MS Group are responsible for the technical details of the work but it is important to stress the new regulations will become binding only after their implementation in the national legislative body of the individual adhering countries.    This process of integration has separate timelines in each of the adhering countries which are undetermined and difficult to predict at this time.

The UBA list is currently in force in Germany.

RuB is – to the best to its knowledge - strictly following all regulations and rules in all countries and will continue to monitor situations as they develop in different countries.  RuB is offering products made of brass alloys that are UBA list compliant.
