RuB PEOPLE THINK LEAN

A PROJECT TO GROW

Our family company has grown through the years, aiming with ambition to be the best in terms of technology, product and customer service.  Silvio Bonomi teaches us, "I have always believed in three essential factors to sell in world markets”:

1) Make quality products
2) Offer competitive prices
3) Meet delivery dates required by customer

Even if the world is continuously changing, these factors are always up-to-date because this is what customers demand.  The way to achieve such objectives has substantially changed through time. In the old days, it was enough to have the latest piece of equipment; now efficiency, timeliness, accuracy, professionalism and speed of executing processes are required from each individual employee and the company's success is based upon

Value of People

A glitch in the process puts at risk the work of everyone and that is why everyone must strive to act immediately to eliminate any waste. Everyone has to give the best of him- or herself as part of a greater team effort. The world is constantly changing and improving does not mean that we just keep doing things well, but, most important, it means we adapt to new requirements. One must understand what the new requirements are and must respond with enthusiasm and brilliance to find solutions that others do not have, allowing us to better meet the needs of the customer.
Our products are successful worldwide for their quality and reliability. We know ourselves well and we know that there is still room for improvement: such improvement requires the joint efforts of each and all of us at RuB. Together, we will make it.
The LEAN project we have started is a route that leads far ahead. It is a constructive way to get people working together towards a common goal and a way of thinking and acting that will help us emerge further in the market.

Energy, passion, mutual trust, professional and personal growth.  These are our values.
We work every day with professionalism and motivation and we are aware that we are producing not only valves, but also building our future.

Silvio, Luciano and Sandro Bonomi

What does “RuB people think LEAN” mean?

The word LEAN can be translated into Italian by using the term "SNELLO" (slim), but certainly
we're not talking about the 'latest revolutionary diet to lose weight’...
The LEAN way of thinking is actually a way to conceive, organize and carry out the work
in a LEAN way, hunting all possible wastes and terminate them.
This allows everyone to "do more and do better with less", to add value to each
action and to provide answers and higher value products to our customers at a lesser cost.
To achieve this goal we will rely on some of the technics studied and applied with excellent
results in other companies in the past, but the key to success is that RuB people assume a different attitude in LIVING their experience at RuB.

The best results are those coming from team work.

If we all agree with this statement we must adopt a new behavior that confirms every day that we are a team.  Some will say that in our environment there is a certain lack of motivation, lack of interest and even unwillingness or inability to assume their responsibilities.  If this was the case in the past, then moving forward, ALL are called onto a new attitude that leads us straight to the heart of things, an attitude that makes us answer to some fundamental questions in any business activity we perform: what is the real value that is expected from my work? What quality is expected from the product I am working on? What kind of support can I offer for the continuous improvement of my work and that of my colleagues? How can I contribute to grow my company?

If we compare RuB to a tree, we know that to pick good fruit, the tree must have good roots.
The roots of a company are PEOPLE.
The roots of RuB are all of US.

ACTUATION RANGE

With RuB’s top quality range of brass ball valves, for actuation and ancillary actuators, your operations canprofit from the following benefits:
-  A One Stop Advantage - The ability to offer your customers a complete service, with ready-to-use actuators, sourced from a single vendor.
-  A Competitive Edge - Now you can propose the innovation of small size ball valves for actuationEven hard to find sizes such as 1/4" and 3/8” are available through RuB.
-  A Wide Selection Of Choices – RuB lets you propose an interesting choice to your customers: Pneumatic or Electric ActuationWe provide solutions for both types of actuation.  Your customers will not need to “look around” for alternatives!
In fact, the following RuB ball valves:
-       s.31 (Mini valve from 1/4" thru 3/4")
-       s.64/s.64LT (2-way, from  1/2’’  thru 2’’; options up to 4’’ available)
-       s.74 (3-way diverting, from 1/2’’  thru 1’’)
are specifically designed for use in actuation, ranging from ¼’’ thru 2’’.  They are available for direct mounting onto our CP-Compact Power electric actuator, as well as any ISO arranged actuator.

RuB’s CP-Compact Power series is an effective solution, you can propose, when only electric power is available.  Thanks to CP’s compact size, it is a practical tool for those times when actuation must fit in a confined space.  It fits RuB ball valves up to size 1.1/4”, and is available with 230 VAC, 110 VAC, 24VAC voltage ratings, and an IP rating of 65.

PNEUMATIC ACTUATOR EA

RuB’s EA series of pneumatic actuators for 1/4" - 2’’ quarter turn valves, have an ISO5211 direct mount on the valves, and are applicable for both indoor and outdoor applications. Thanks to optimized technical features, the EA actuators offer effective and long lasting performance.

ELECTRIC ACTUATOR CT

RuB’s CT Electric Actuator is a first-rate actuator solution for 1/4" - 2’’ quarter turn valves with ISO5211 direct mounts. Contained in fire resistant plastic housing, it comes in several voltage ratings: 230V AC, 110V AC, 24V AC, 24V DC, 12V DC.

For additional information on RuB’s extensive line of actuators and actuator mounted ball valves, or for more information about the best valve + actuator coupling for your applications, please contact your RuBArea.

WHAT IS Cv (Kv) AND HOW IT USED

What is Cv vs. and what is Kv:
-  A Cv Flow Coefficient specifies the volume of water (in US gpm at 60°F/15.55°C) that will flow through a valve with a 1.0 PSI pressure drop across the valve.
Thus a Cv Flow Coefficient of 10 indicates that a 1.0 PSI pressure drop will occur with a flow of 10 US gpm of water through the valve.
-  A Kv Flow Coefficient specifies the volume of water in m3/hour at 68 °F/20°C that will flow through a valve with a 1.0 bar pressure drop across the valve.
Thus a Kv Flow Coefficient of 10 indicates that a 1.0 bar pressure drop will occur with a flow of 10m3/hour of water through the valve.

The difference between the two is only the system in which they are calculated, respectively imperial for the Cv and metric for the Kv. Therefore you can convert Kv into Cv and vice-versa using the following formula:   Kv = 0,865 Cv

The Flow Coefficient is normally used to size valves in a plant.  Once flow rate and pressure lost are known, Cv is calculated (or easily found in the technical datasheets) and based on that value, the most appropriate DN valve size can then be identified.  Simply, you need a big enough hole in the ball for media to flow through. If the hole is too small, the pressure will drop.  If the hole is too big, pressure loss will also take place.  Additionally, this means that you have overspent on a larger size valve than was necessary, and you’ve wasted some money (which will not make your boss happy…).
For further clarification or additional information, or to develop special OEM products custom sized to your plant’s pressure specifications, our Engineering department would be pleased to assist.
